I’ve been gone for a minute, now I’m back with the jump-off. *in Lil Kim voice*
Not really but it has been a minute. 😊
I haven’t written in a while because, per usual, life has been lifein’. Lol.
Since my last blog post, I’ve been published quite a bit on Her Agenda. The most notable article being, What My Hot Girl Summer Taught Me About Sexual Health. In the article, I wrote about how I thought I contracted herpes from a guy I briefly dealt with over the summer and the journey that followed.
Long story short, I realized how the sex-positive movement hasn’t included STI’s just yet. Even though I wrote about sexual health on Her Agenda, I want to take the topic to my blog, especially since October is Health Literacy Month.
While Health Literacy Month is focused on spreading awareness about the importance of communication between patients and health care providers, I want to focus on the communication people can have with friends and sexual partners in a three-part series.
The first one will be about my experience getting STIs from sexual partners and the conversation we had around that. The second will be about when I forgot to tell my partner I had HPV (yeah, I know you’re probably judging me). And the third one will be about a recent conversation I had with a friend of mine who has herpes. The names have been changed to protect the privacy of all those involved.
As I share these stories, I intend to help normalize conversations about sexual health. If you have any questions or want to chat with me privately after reading, feel free to email me at chelseaahamlet[at]gmail.com or DM on Instagram @chelseaahamlet.
Thanks for reading this far!
