How Human Design Disappointed Me

Happy New Moon Everyone!

Today is a New Moon in Pisces. If you know your Rising sign, Aycee Brown has really great descriptions of what to focus on for the rest of the week (instead of dissociating) here.

If you don’t know your Rising sign, check out my previous blog post about how the Spiritual Landscape is Changing for options to calculate your birth chart.

So, y’all know how much I love human design. I dedicated a whole newsletter edition to it. I still think it has value, but this recent experience I witnessed in human design really changed my perspective.

My boyfriend recently looked at his birth certificate and realized he was not born at the time he thought he was born. He was born in 1969, so his birth certificate looks very different compared to birth certificates from the 80s and 90s.

The way his birth certificate is set up, the clerks crossed out PM next to the birth time so he thought that meant he was born 12:12 PM. However, after reflection (and a quick google search on my end) we learned that in the 1960s clerks often used a typewriter or pen to strike through the incorrect option and leave the correct one legible. So, instead of being born at 12:12 PM, he was actually born at 12:12 AM!

Naturally, we redid his natal chart in astrology and his human design chart. Now, his astrology chart had some changes like his Rising sign, house rulers and planets in different houses. The core of who he was though, which is an Aries, and his moon sign, stayed the same. Doesn’t sound super drastic, right?

When we redid his human design chart, however, his aura type changed – which is the core of who you are in human design. So, instead of being a Projector like we thought he was, he’s actually a Generator like me. This is a pretty big difference.

Now, Generators and Projectors have similar strategies. Projectors need to wait to be invited/recognized and Generators have to wait to respond. So, there’s a familiarity in waiting  but it’s the how and why each type waits that makes the difference.

My boyfriend felt more at ease after learning he was a Generator because the “waiting for the invitation” strategy as a Projector would frustrate him. After thinking about recent decisions he’s made, he noticed he would wait to respond to opportunities intuitively, which felt more in alignment and made more sense once he learned he was a Generator.

While he felt more at ease, I felt pissed… Lol. I acknowledge that it wasn’t even me that was experiencing this change but knowing how much we referenced human design in our everyday lives, it felt like we mismanaged his energy and tried to fit him in a box that wasn’t made for him. It also made me wonder what would have happened if we knew his true aura type sooner.

Don’t get me wrong, I knew certain things would change depending on your birth time in human design but I didn’t realize the core of who you are and how you are supposed to approach life could change so significantly.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

I’m not saying don’t use human design at all. I’m just a firm believer that if I’m going to write about the benefits, I should also let y’all know the cons from my experiences and those around me.

This experience made me realize human design is very birth time sensitive. So, if you’re not 100% confident on your birth time but still want to use human design, keep track of what is working and what doesn’t feel fully aligned.

Remember, Astrology and Human Design can be used to help us learn more about ourselves and how we can go about living our best life.

This is also an opportunity for you to evaluate what works for you and what systems you find helpful.

Do you have any practices for the new moon?

Will you still use Human Design?
